Demi Lovato has cancelled five of her concerts amid concerns over her health.<\/p>\n
The Heart Attack singer realised she had “overextended” herself, she told fans in a heartfelt Instagram post.<\/p>\n
Dedicating her words to the “Lovatics” – the collective name for her fanbase – Demi, 33, explained her chronic health concerns had made it clear she would not be able to fulfil her promised 23-date It’s Not That Deep tour. <\/p>\n
“My Lovatics – I am so excited to get back on stage this year and visit you in as many cities as I can,” she wrote on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
“While starting to prepare for the tour, I realized that I have overextended what may be possible.” <\/p>\n
Over the years, Demi has been open about her mental health issues, which include a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, eating disorders, and depression.<\/p>\n
This week, she shared how she would “protect” her wellbeing from the gruelling schedule of a multi-date concert tour.<\/p>\n
“To protect my health, and ensure I can give you my all at each show, I need to build in more time to rest and rehearse,” the Sorry Not Sorry singer wrote, “and ultimately adjust to a schedule with some more time off that will allow me to handle the entire run of the tour.” <\/p>\n
In October, Demi announced the It’s Not That Deep tour to support her ninth studio album, which she described as a return to her electronic-pop roots.<\/p>\n
